While we have lost so many restaurants this past year, and the current Covid variant is creating new challenges, two bold entrepreneurs have come to the table presenting modern Indian cuisine right in the heart of Culver City. Co-founders and partners Mihir Lad and Executive Chef Sagar Ghosh opened Arth Bar + Kitchen on July 8, 2021. With not just one but two patios for outdoor dining, Arth offers a safe dining experience for those who take public safety seriously.

Before having the opportunity to enjoy a full multi-course meal at the new restaurant, I met both partners and Lad’s…

After a long shutdown, I was vaccinated and thrilled to venture out to see live theatre for the first time in over a year. The Wallis has created a Covid-safe outdoor stage with socially-distanced tiered seating. The World Premiere of “Tevye in New York!” officially opened on June 26, 2021, and stars actor/writer Tom Dugan (“Jackie Unveiled,” “Wiesenthal”), who also co-directed it with Michael Vale. Dugan has written several one-man shows, two were previously performed at the Wallis, with this production originally scheduled for 2020. So it was the perfect project to launch SUMMER @ THE WALLIS.

Most know the beloved…

While in-person openings have been slowly coming back, bG Gallery has come up with an unusual way to keep up with social distancing at its upcoming reception on June 19, 2021. For its 8th annual color themed show, “Spectrum Gestalt,” art lovers are asked to attend the opening at different times based on their love of a specific color. Neutrals start with a 2–3pm time slot, moving on with red enthusiasts invited from 3–4pm, and so on (see below for full schedule).

Photographer Tim Truby will have five images in the group show. As a landscape photographer, he spends 2–3…

Each year The TASTE, presented by the LA Times, takes place over Labor Day weekend. Los Angeles residents, tourists and foodies alike look forward to this annual event. It’s a wonderful way to try the cuisine of multiple restaurants while enjoying an inside peek of the New York back lot at Paramount Pictures.

The Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival is one of the premiere foodie events in Los Angeles, and it happens to be one of my favorites. This year, all of the larger events were held at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar, while the dinner series continued at different locations across LA.

I was excited to attend “Meat me at LAFW’s Great Steak-out & BBQ with Curtis Stone” on Saturday evening, and Sunday’s “Brunch so Hard with Jeremiah Tower.” Saturday evening’s event was bustling…there was a wonderful party atmosphere. I decided to start the night off with a beautiful cabernet by…

After postponing their No Filter U.S. stadium tour, due to Mick Jagger’s heart surgery, the Rolling Stones were about to hit the stage at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. It was finally time to see their re-scheduled performance, and I couldn’t have been more excited. Driving to Pasadena from the Westside during rush hour however was not something I was looking forward to.

My husband wanted to leave super early and have a nice dinner in Pasadena before the show. I had heard about a wonderful Italian restaurant in Old Town Pasadena called Mi Piace, so it seemed like the…

Life can be busy. Unexpected things come up, and we tend to forget about taking time for ourselves. So, when family or business commitments take me to an area out of Los Angeles, I often tack on an extra day or two to unwind and experience of the local sites. When my commitments are up the coast from LA…that’s even better. The entire California coast is peppered with amazing destinations.

My husband (photographer Richard Bilow), and I have been gathering info for upcoming articles as part of an ongoing series about the California coast. See my article — “Unplug with…

On June 8 & 9, 2019, the 41st annual Playboy Jazz Festival was held at the Hollywood Bowl. Hosted by comedian George Lopez, the two-day extravaganza featured a wide variety of cross-over jazz…there was literally something for everyone.

The genre of jazz has led a varied and diverse life. Many believe the original roots of jazz began with the classical icon Claude Debussy (born in 1862), whose symphonic masterpieces traveled across key signatures. While some insist it started with Charles “Buddy” Bolden (born in 1877 in New Orleans), one cannot deny the contribution that Louie Armstrong (born in 1901) made…

On May 15, 2019, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill by Lanie Robertson opened at the Garry Marshall Theatre in Burbank. The stage was set to recreate the final gig of Billie Holiday at the Emerson Bar and Grill in Philadelphia.

We were led through the backstage area, passing by posters of jazz greats from that era, and then arrived onstage. A piano and a 50s style microphone was the focal point, with tables and chairs on the sides of the stage. The red wine that we requested while checking in at the box office was waiting for us…
